Etsy is rolling out a new feature that lets sellers send targeted discount offers to “interested shoppers,” people Etsy identifies as already considering an item based on how often and recently they’ve viewed a listing. Sellers spotted it last week before Etsy formally announced it this week, with the company saying the offers can reach roughly twice as many potential buyers as its other targeted-offer tools and nudge purchases without running a shop-wide sale. Reaction in seller communities was mixed, with some worried it pushes Etsy toward a Depop- or eBay-style offer culture that invites lowball counteroffers and a race to the bottom on price.
