Etsy now prints shop names on shipping labels regardless of seller settings, raising mail-theft and privacy worries

by | Jun 14, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

Etsy has started printing sellers' full shop names on USPS shipping labels regardless of their previous settings, raising privacy and security concerns, according to Value Added Resource and seller forum posts. Sellers say the change overrides the generic return addresses like “shipping department” they had used to stay discreet, exposing shops with names tied to jewelry, coins, or collectibles to higher mail-theft risk, revealing the nature of sensitive purchases, and spoiling gift surprises. Etsy has not formally announced the change, which appears to have rolled out over the past few weeks, and sellers are turning to third-party label services like Pirate Ship or browser workarounds to strip the shop name before printing.
