DHL eCommerce plans to focus its next European acquisitions on parcel carriers in Eastern Europe, CEO Pablo Ciano told German logistics publication DVZ. Ciano said DHL has fewer holes left in Western and Southern Europe after combining its UK parcel business with Evri and teaming up with CTT in Spain and Portugal. DHL’s pending purchase of Venipak, agreed in July, would give it owned operations and roughly 800 lockers across the Baltics. Ciano put growth at about 15% a year for cross-border parcels and about 50% for parcels moving through DHL’s shops and lockers, much of it from people shipping second-hand goods to each other. He wants to double the division’s revenue from €6.9 billion in 2025 within five years, though he called that a goal, not a forecast.
