Google told Chrome Enterprise and Education customers in a new support page that ChromeOS devices will keep getting security fixes and other updates until mid-2034, a cutoff that first surfaced in a court filing in February. Because some Chromebooks sold today carry 10-year support windows that run past that date, Google plans to move many newer commercial models to Googlebook OS, often as a direct migration, though it hasn’t said which models qualify or when. Googlebooks launch this year without domain enrollment or fleet management, and Google doesn’t expect the first core admin controls until the second half of 2027. They also start at $899 when they go on sale October 4, which is more than any Chromebook on the market costs today.
