Cursor investigated whether it had sent confidential customer data to SpaceX’s AI unit for model training, according to Grace Kay at The Information. The concern came up in July, after Cursor employees had spent weeks using Grok Bot, the AI agent Cursor was building ahead of SpaceX’s acquisition, for sales, recruiting and research work that touched customer and partner information. Cursor collected that usage to train models, and one of its lawyers warned in Slack that the company “arguably” didn’t have the legal right to do so. The investigation’s findings aren’t known, but Cursor has since excluded employee usage from future training data.
