Backcountry acquired the assets of Velofix, whose 96 certified technicians run mobile bike shops, building and repairing bikes out of vans across the US and Canada, for undisclosed terms in a deal that closed September 17. Backcountry plans to use Velofix to assemble and hand over bikes that customers order online, so buyers get a bike that’s built and tuned at their door instead of one that arrives in a box, though it hasn’t said when that will start. The deal extends a string of cycling purchases since Backcountry was bought by CSC Generation in September 2024, including Level Nine Sports in July 2025 and later Velotech, the parent of BikeTiresDirect, Western Bikeworks, and TriSports, which joined Backcountry’s existing Competitive Cyclist business.
