Anthropic is in talks with banks to add a few billion dollars to its credit line ahead of a planned IPO this year, building on its $2.5B revolving facility from last year, according to The Information. Companies often widen credit before an IPO, with the lending banks often serving as underwriters, a path SpaceX and Cerebras took before their recent listings. Anthropic could list as soon as September at a valuation of $1 trillion or more, though it hasn’t set timing and could delay, and plans testing-the-water investor meetings in coming weeks. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are among the banks working on the IPO, which would put Anthropic ahead of OpenAI, now expected to list in 2027, after both filed confidentially in June.
