AI assistants now send online stores about four times the share of orders they did a year ago, according to Enalitica, an analytics company that studied more than 100,000 recent orders from stores using its software. ChatGPT accounts for about 95% of those AI orders, which now make up close to 1% of all sales for a typical store. Almost 9 in 10 AI buyers had never ordered from the store before, compared with about 7 in 10 buyers overall. Google Analytics counted only 41% of those AI orders as coming from AI, sorting the rest as referral, organic, direct or unassigned visits.
