OpenAI closed on about $11 billion, the first part of a funding round that values it at $1.25 trillion, and the money reached the company on Friday, according to Bloomberg. The remaining money, which could bring the total to $20 billion, should arrive over the next few weeks. OpenAI first sought $30 billion or more at a $1.4 trillion valuation but scaled back during a selloff in AI stocks, though the new price is still well above the $852 billion it was valued at in a $122 billion round in March. CFO Sarah Friar told CNBC that OpenAI will keep spending on data centers despite this week’s election results, and that “a good CFO always raises money when she can.”
