Zipline raised $1.5 billion at a $21.5 billion post-money valuation, nearly triple the $7.6 billion it was valued at in January, in a round co-led by Paradigm, WCM Investment Management, and Layer Global. Zipline plans to spend the money on hiring and on making more drones in the US to build out a nationwide delivery network. The same day, Walmart signed a multi-year deal with Zipline to open 300 more drone delivery sites around the US, with room to add more, but neither company said where the sites will go or when the first one opens. Zipline and Walmart currently run 21 sites together in Texas and Arkansas, according to Bloomberg.
