Google Cloud previews Multi-Party Compute, a crypto custody service that splits wallet keys so banks can protect digital assets

Google Cloud is testing Multi-Party Compute, a service that helps banks and similar financial firms protect the crypto and tokenized assets they hold, according to Aoyon Ashraf at CoinDesk. The service breaks each wallet’s private key into pieces stored in different places, such as Google Cloud, a bank’s own servers and a rival cloud, and a transaction only goes through once a set number of those pieces sign off. Before anything is signed, Google checks it against rules the institution writes, like transfer limits and lists of approved wallets. Alphabet already uses it for its own Ethereum and Solana holdings, and Google plans a general launch in early 2027, putting it up against crypto custody specialists like Fireblocks and BitGo.
