About 20% of US adults say they get news on TikTok regularly, the same share as last year but up from 3% in 2020, according to Pew Research Center, which surveyed 5,166 adults in August. The habit skews young, with 39% of adults under 30 getting news on TikTok compared with just 4% of those 65 and older. Among people who actually use TikTok, 53% regularly get news there, which puts it about level with Facebook and X, where 57% of users do the same. TikTok still reaches far fewer Americans overall, since 37% use it compared with 84% for YouTube and 70% for Facebook.
