Google starts testing ads in AI Mode for Personal Intelligence users, using insights from connected apps like Gmail to pick ads

Google has started testing ads in AI Mode for people who opt to link their Google apps to Personal Intelligence, according to Anu Adegbola at Search Engine Land. In March, Google said that those users wouldn’t see ads and that this “isn’t changing right now,” but it also said it expected ads to arrive eventually. Google’s updated help page says Search may now use “summaries, excerpts and inferences” pulled from apps like Gmail and Google Photos to choose which ads to show, but it won’t base ads directly on someone’s inbox or photo library. Google also says advertisers won’t get access to anyone’s connected apps.
