Elon Musk floats starting an Amazon competitor after an X user says Amazon is blocking Grok bots from placing orders

Elon Musk posted “Maybe we should start a competitor to Amazon” on X on Thursday, replying to a user who said Amazon won’t let Grok bots buy anything on its site. The user wrote that one of their Grok bots does nothing but handle their Amazon returns, then asked followers whether they’d switch stores for their bot and suggested Musk open an “X Shop.” Musk didn’t elaborate, and neither Amazon nor xAI has confirmed that Grok is being blocked, but it’s likely, given that Amazon has already shut out Meta’s Muse along with agents from Google, OpenAI, and Perplexity in recent months, saying unidentified bots put customer accounts at risk.
