Google Cloud launched the Gemini agent, one AI agent that handles questions, documents, media and code, and can stay on a cloud job for hours or days after a user logs off. It works inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Chat and Calendar, can also be reached from Microsoft 365 and Slack, and sends each job to whichever Gemini or Anthropic Claude model Google judges best on quality and cost. Teams can describe a role and have Gemini create a coworker agent that gets its own Workspace email, calendar, Drive storage and directory listing, with every action logged under the agent’s identity rather than a person’s. Google hasn’t published pricing or a release date, and industry versions are in preview only for financial services and legal.
