ZuckOff, a free app built by Polish developer Pawel Szydlowski, scans for the Bluetooth signals smart glasses give off and alerts users when a pair such as Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, or Snap Spectacles is close by, according to WIRED Middle East. Wearers have found simple hardware hacks that disable the glasses’ recording light, which means people nearby can be filmed without any sign that it’s happening. ZuckOff can still spot the glasses when that light is off and uses signal strength to estimate how close they are, but it can’t tell whether they’re recording or who’s wearing them. The app has been downloaded more than 5,000 times on iOS and 1,000 times on Android since it launched in August, and a $25 Pro version adds background scanning, history logs, and CSV exports.
