Palantir, Nvidia, and Booz Allen Hamilton are limiting their use of Anthropic’s Fable model because Anthropic won’t commit to a zero data retention guarantee it can’t later withdraw, according to Laura Bratton and Aaron Holmes at The Information. When Fable launched in June, Anthropic began keeping 30 days of logs on how customers use it, citing security. Palantir won’t offer Fable through its software until it gets an irrevocable guarantee, while Nvidia keeps Fable to less sensitive tasks such as open-source projects, and Booz Allen bars employees from using it on its own cybersecurity software. Anthropic, which says it doesn’t train models on this data, announced this month that eligible customers will be able to keep the logs on their own servers, but it can end that option at any time.
