X hires crypto veteran Benji Taylor as head of design ahead of X Money’s planned April launch

Elon Musk's X has brought on Benji Taylor as its new head of design, a crypto-experienced product leader who founded self-custody wallet Family, served as CPO at Aave Labs after the acquisition, and most recently led design at Coinbase's Base blockchain network. The hire comes as X prepares to launch X Money in April, a payments product offering peer-to-peer transactions, bank deposits, a debit card, cashback rewards, and a proposed 6% yield on balances across more than 40 U.S. states. No blockchain or crypto component has been announced for X Money, though Taylor's background in self-custody wallets and decentralized finance has raised speculation about the product's longer-term direction.
