TikTok permanently suspended the ad account Bleecker Street uses to promote Alex Gibney’s documentary “Musk,” citing repeated violations of its political content rules, according to Steven Zeitchik at The Hollywood Reporter. The ban landed Friday as the film widened to more than 470 North American screens, and it stops the distributor from buying ads or boosting posts on its unpaid account, which is still up. TikTok had already been rejecting the trailer and other paid spots, including an ad joking that moviegoers should delete their X accounts at intermission, but it didn’t tell Bleecker Street which posts triggered the suspension. Bleecker Street is appealing, but even a quick reversal could come too late for the opening-weekend crowds in those new markets.
