Replit has stopped working with Anthropic, according to CEO Amjad Masad, who spoke onstage at TechCrunch Disrupt. The AI coding platform had run on Anthropic’s Claude models, but cost and performance drove the company to OpenAI, which Replit partnered with in August. However, a person familiar with the arrangement told TechCrunch the Anthropic partnership is still in place, and a Replit blog post from September listed Claude Fable 5 and Claude Fable 5.1 among the models Replit Agent was using in production. Replit’s August announcement of the OpenAI deal never said it was leaving Anthropic, and the company hasn’t answered TechCrunch’s request to clarify.
