TikTok launches “Campus Hub” with college group chats and personalized feeds for verified students

TikTok launched a new “Campus Hub” featuring dedicated college group chats of up to 300 verified classmates and personalized feeds that surface content posted by verified students and content related to their university. The hub builds on TikTok's campus verification feature, launched last August through a partnership with student verification platform UNiDAYS, which is now available across more than 6,000 universities and lets users add their college to their TikTok profile and browse fellow students. TikTok told TechCrunch that the chats can be used to stay in touch, plan reunions, or keep conversations going over the summer, putting it in competition with Discord, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram, which rolled out a nearly identical campus verification feature last year.
