Stop the AI Race, an advocacy group, marched about 200 protesters between the San Francisco offices of OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind on Saturday to demand that leading AI companies pause training more powerful frontier models, according to Decrypt. Organized by former AI researcher Michaël Trazzi, the march broadened beyond AI safety to job losses, energy use, rising local housing costs, and Big Tech’s growing influence, with demonstrators urging companies to redirect research toward safety and alignment while keeping existing systems running. Trazzi said the group’s aims have shifted since its first protest in March toward raising political salience, and the effort drew endorsements from the National Union of Healthcare Workers and Bay Area groups like AI Action.
