Stand with Crypto, a lobby group backed by Coinbase, sent Canadian members of Parliament a report arguing that crypto wallets are the cheapest and simplest payment option for AI agents and that Canada should lead the market, according to Claire Brownell at The Logic. The group says clear rules will decide whether that happens, and Coinbase’s head of Canada, Eric Richmond, said defining stablecoins as payments rather than investments would make more Canadian businesses willing to accept them from agents. Stablecoin payments by agents are still small, with x402, the agent payment standard backed by Coinbase, Stripe and Shopify, processing about $24 million over the past 30 days.
