Operation Bluebird rebrands its Twitter revival as Tweet.app after a judge blocks the Twitter name and clears the bird logo

Operation Bluebird renamed its new social platform Tweet.app after US District Judge Colm Connolly ruled that calling it Twitter would confuse consumers and infringe X Corp’s trademark. Connolly also found that X had likely given up the word tweet and the bird logo, so the startup can keep both, and it says on its FAQ page that the court declined to block their use. Operation Bluebird had launched the site as Twitter.now a week earlier, going ahead while X’s request for a preliminary injunction was still undecided. The site is live but running a waitlist, with more than 172,000 people signed up and a $20 charge to reserve a handle, according to TechCrunch. X’s trademark suit is still open and headed for trial.
