OpenAI tests an $8 button that resets weekly usage limits for ChatGPT Plus subscribers who have maxed out their quotas

OpenAI is testing a paid quota reset, with some ChatGPT Plus subscribers on the $20 plan seeing an $8 button once they max out their weekly limits, according to Business Insider. A reset renews the weekly quota and removes the wait before it refills on its own, which usually runs about five hours, though anyone who doesn’t want to pay can wait it out. OpenAI never announced the option, which a Reddit user surfaced Monday. A spokesperson said the company is looking at ways to let users who hit their caps buy more usage, and called it an early test with no wide rollout planned. The test follows months of giving resets away, including the banked Codex resets it gave eligible Plus and Pro users in June and a blanket reset for paid ChatGPT Work and Codex users on Sunday.
