OpenAI faces greenwashing accusations after hosting content creators at a $2,000-a-night resort for beekeeping lessons

OpenAI hosted about 30 content creators at Wildflower Farms, a Hudson Valley resort where weekend rooms run past $2,000 a night, for an event attendees called OpenAI Summer Camp. The itinerary covered farm-to-table dinners, lessons on the company’s newest tools, and a session with a beekeeper, and creators went home with branded canvas bags and honey jars. Videos posted over the weekend drew accusations of greenwashing on X, Reddit, TikTok, and Instagram, with commenters asking why a company whose data centers consume so much power and water would stage a nature retreat. OpenAI told Business Insider the trip was an education event tied to the launch of ChatGPT Work, but declined to say whether attendees were paid, whether it covered their travel, or whether posting was expected.
