Onton launched Ontology 1, a neurosymbolic model built from scratch to judge whether the information around a product can be trusted rather than only what the product is. Onton is aiming it at agentic shopping, where an agent working through review roundups, influencer picks and sponsored comparisons can't tell real information from synthetic, paid or manipulated content, and recommends anyway. Ontology 1 also reads the intent behind a shopper's stated preferences, including image inputs, and runs combined text and image search. Onton says the model beat Google Shopping and Amazon on accuracy across nearly every dimension it tested, with the widest margin on assessing the veracity of product information, though the benchmarks are its own.
