Just 34.9% of 76,926 public Shopify storefronts added products over a median 50 days of tracking, while 41.4% showed no net change and 23.7% finished with fewer, according to StoreInspect, a store intelligence platform that sells Shopify data to agencies and software vendors. Catalog size split the field, since just 10.0% of stores starting with one to nine products grew, against 54.0% of those starting above 1,000. The small ones that did grow added a median 1.3 products a month, which came to 30.0% of what they started with, while the large ones added 51.2, or 1.6%. StoreInspect counted public products at two endpoints at least 30 days apart, so the numbers are net movement and don’t capture anything launched and pulled in between.
