ReFiBuy published the Q2 2026 edition of the AI1000, the quarterly benchmark it co-developed with Digital Commerce 360 that scores the top 1,000 online retailers on how ready their catalogs are for AI shopping agents. 972 of the 1,000 retailers changed rank in a single quarter, and Nixon, a watch brand that ranks 722nd by online sales, took the top spot from Online Labels by 0.03 points. The report found that scale alone doesn’t determine leadership in AI shopping, with only 10 of the 100 largest online retailers placing in the AI1000 top 100. ReFiBuy also found AI traffic leadership spreading beyond ChatGPT, which went from the largest source for 844 retailers in Q1 down to 722 in Q2, while Gemini-led retailers doubled from 16 to 32, Perplexity climbed from 8 to 21, and Claude went from 1 to 15. Even more surprising, only 225 of the top 1,000 have a detectable Universal Commerce Protocol endpoint heading into a holiday season where Salesforce expects 20% of e-commerce traffic to come from AI chat agents.
