Microsoft rebuilt Copilot around four areas, putting Chat and Cowork under a new Home tab, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint under Office in Copilot, GitHub Copilot-style coding tools under Code, and its personal agent under Autopilot, formerly called Scout. A coming update will send each task to Chat, Cowork, or Code on its own, so users no longer pick a mode. Home and Code arrive for Microsoft’s Frontier early-access customers within weeks, while Autopilot enters private preview by late September. The reboot folds Copilot’s consumer and workplace versions into one product built for corporate users, which Bloomberg described as Microsoft backing away from consumer chatbots, a market OpenAI and Google dominate.
