Meta tests a Facebook app in India and Indonesia that opens into full-screen Reels, while Instagram trials a Reels-first setting

Meta has started trialing a version of Facebook in India and Indonesia that opens the app straight into full-screen Reels, according to Jagmeet Singh at TechCrunch, three months after Facebook head Tom Alison said the change would begin in video-heavy markets ahead of a possible US launch next year. Testers can return to the usual feed, which also stays one tab over. Instagram has a similar test underway, with a setting that makes Reels the first screen users see on opening the app, keeping Stories along the top and the following feed a swipe away, and a Meta spokesperson told The Verge that it’s running in only a few countries, which Meta didn’t name.
