Meta tells advertisers how to still steer ad placement after removing manual placement controls from most campaign objectives

by | Oct 13, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

Meta published a guide to the ways advertisers can still influence where their ads run, now that it has removed manual placement controls from campaigns built on engagement, leads, app promotion, and sales objectives. Those controls let advertisers keep ads out of spots like Facebook search results or in-stream slots between Reels, and they remain only for awareness and traffic campaigns. Meta pointed advertisers to uploading separate images and videos for each placement within a single ad, raising or lowering bids on individual placements with placement value rules, and setting placement exclusions by objective at the account level.
