Meta plans to launch camera-free Luna smart glasses this fall amid privacy concerns over its camera-equipped Ray-Ban models

Meta plans to ship camera-free smart glasses, code-named Luna, as soon as October and could show them off at its Connect conference next week, according to Jyoti Mann at The Information. Luna uses six microphones and a side button so people can talk to Meta AI and its Muse agent, and it has thinner arms than Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses so it looks more like regular eyewear. Meta hopes Luna gives buyers an alternative to the Ray-Ban line, which has drawn criticism after some users covered the recording light and filmed strangers without their knowledge. Meta pushed an update last month that blocks recording when the light is covered, and it estimates that fewer than 0.1% of the glasses it has sold show signs of tampering.
