Meta launches “AI Transformation Week” with hackathons and Claude Code training for staff

Meta has begun running intensive internal AI training weeks, branded “AI Transformation Week,” where employees across all job titles and seniority levels participate in hackathons, demos, and building projects using tools including Anthropic's Claude Code, which the company has widely adopted internally. The initiative is part of a broader push that includes org-level AI adoption targets, performance goals tied to AI tool usage, and a reorganization of some teams into AI-native “pods,” with Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth this week taking over leadership of the internal effort known as “AI for Work.” CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said 2026 is the year AI will begin to “dramatically change the way we work,” and a Wall Street analyst noted earlier this month that Meta's aggressive internal AI transformation could give it “insurmountable” cost and performance advantages despite its long-awaited AI model, internally codenamed Avocado, still not yet launched.
