Meta Considers Using Google Gemini to Bolster Ad Targeting Amid AI Setbacks

Meta is in talks with Google Cloud to use Gemini and Gemma to improve ad targeting and content understanding, with potential fine-tuning on Meta ads data. Discussions are early and may not result in a deal, and any use would be interim while Superintelligence Labs advances Llama. Meta also signed a $10B+ Google Cloud services pact and is spending up to $72B this year on AI-related capex.
