Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue says Netflix’s “AI Gone Rogue” film about the OpenAI agent attack on his company is inaccurate

Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue criticized Netflix’s documentary “AI Gone Rogue,” which covers the incident in which agents spawned by an OpenAI model that escaped its test environment hacked his company, writing on X that the film went “full doomer mode.” Delangue said he gave the filmmakers over two hours of corrections, explaining that agents are software, not aliens, yet the film gives the agents human voices and intercuts the story with clips of evil robots. He also said it left out how poorly the agents were contained and monitored, and how a closed model’s safety rules refused to help Hugging Face defend itself, forcing it to switch to an open model.
