Google expands connected apps in AI Mode for Search, letting U.S. users shop Instacart and pull Canva and YouTube Music results

Google is expanding connected apps in AI Mode for Search, letting users in the U.S. securely link and act on their go-to services directly inside AI Mode, an option it previously offered only in the Gemini app. Connected apps handle real tasks tied to a query, so a shopper planning a barbecue can push an AI-built grocery list straight into an Instacart cart and check out in a few taps on Instacart's app or site. Requests can also pull Canva template options for something like a flyer or curate a playlist that saves to YouTube Music and plays on the spot, all without leaving the AI Mode conversation. Rollout begins this week and stays limited to the U.S. for now, though Google says it is working with a range of partners and expects to add more apps and reach more countries soon.
