Google drops Performance Max from the Branded Searches documentation and shortens the default conversion window to 7 days

by | Aug 20, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

Google’s updated documentation for Branded Searches, the conversion type that counts brand lookups on Google or YouTube in the days after someone sees an ad, no longer lists Performance Max, per Hana Kobzova of PPC News Feed. YouTube and Demand Gen are still listed, and the default window is now seven days rather than the 30-day view-through window Google described at launch, adjustable from one to 30 days. Google now files the metric under its Consideration goal and treats it as a primary conversion action that can’t be used for bidding, so the numbers land in Results and All Conversions instead of the main Conversions column. Advertisers still need brand mapping configured for any of it to report, and the metric has run since 2025 as a standing alternative to Search Lift experiments.
