Demand for generative engine optimization is climbing faster than demand for traditional search work, with 67% of freelance search specialists reporting more GEO requests over the past year against 56% reporting more requests to optimize for Google rankings, according to Fiverr’s Holiday Marketing Index. Those same specialists don’t treat it as a replacement, since 61% still name Google SEO the strongest long-term investment. Search is also where the pricing pressure sits, with 61% saying clients expect a discount purely because AI is involved and 89% saying clients judge the output regardless. On the store side, 57% of e-commerce freelancers say clients are asking for more store management, with conversion rate work and Shopify optimization both at 43%, against 21% for TikTok Shop.
