Disney announced a $1 billion equity investment in OpenAI as part of a three-year licensing agreement that allows Sora users to generate videos featuring more than 200 Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars characters. The deal also lets users create images with Disney IP in ChatGPT Images, while excluding talent likenesses and voices. Disney will become a major OpenAI customer and deploy ChatGPT internally, as both companies emphasize copyright controls and creator protections.
