Chinese cybersecurity company 360 Security Technology said it built a domestic response to Anthropic’s Mythos, with founder Zhou Hongyi unveiling two AI security tools at a Beijing conference and casting the American model as a strategic cyber capability China cannot afford to lack, according to Reuters. One tool, which Zhou called “China’s version of Mythos,” automatically finds software vulnerabilities, while another automates cyber defense and incident response, with 360 claiming the first found 3,432 software flaws, 105 of them verified by Chinese authorities, figures Reuters could not independently verify. The announcement follows the US ordering Anthropic this month to halt foreign exports of a less potent version of Mythos over national-security concerns. Zhou argued that if US organizations could scan systems with Mythos-like tools while Chinese firms were barred, China would face “one-way transparency.”
