Block cut jobs on Wednesday in its customer operations, risk operations, and learning and content teams, mostly at Cash App, according to Business Insider. It’s the company’s second round of layoffs this year, after Block laid off more than 40% of its staff in February and pointed to AI as part of the reason. It isn’t known how many people were affected this time, and the staff email didn’t mention AI by name, but it said better tools would take over routine tasks so teams could focus on complex cases. The cuts came days after Block beat third quarter expectations, growing gross profit 22% to $3.24B and raising its full-year outlook.
