Baselayer raised a $35 million Series A led by M13 and launched its Agentic Identity Suite, which is built to tell a lender or marketplace which agent is on the other end of a transaction, whose authority it’s acting under, and what it’s allowed to do. The pitch is that identity infrastructure was designed for people and businesses while agent traffic has run ahead of it, with Stripe saying in June that agents now account for 70% of the commands that hit its API for data, all three major card networks shipping agent commerce protocols over the past year, and Shopify switching agentic sales channels on by default across roughly a million merchants. Baselayer says it already serves 2,300-plus financial institutions and has helped them stop over $1 billion in fraud.
