Intrinsic, the robotics software company Alphabet folded into Google in February, released Intrinsic Core under an Apache 2.0 license at ROSCon 2026, a preconfigured ROS-compatible environment that runs on local hardware. Developers get a real-time control framework that works across hardware and adjusts a robot’s path mid-move from sensor feedback, pose estimation built on Nvidia’s FoundationPose so robots can find parts without rigid fixtures, motion planning that generates collision-free paths, grasp planning that adapts grippers to how an object sits, and simulation, calibration and ROS drivers. Intrinsic also put out a reference design for CNC machine tending that runs on Universal Robots and FANUC hardware, aimed at shops in the US and Europe where it says only 8% use any automation.
