AWS launched Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments in preview, a new set of features that lets AI agents instantly access and pay for what they use, including web content, APIs, MCP servers, and other agents. The capabilities were built in partnership with Coinbase and Stripe, who are providing the wallet infrastructure and payment rails, with developers able to choose between a Coinbase wallet or a Stripe Privy wallet as their payment connection. The first use case enabled in preview is micropayments using the x402 protocol, an open HTTP-native payment standard for instant stablecoin micropayments, with end users able to fund wallets through stablecoin or fiat using a debit card and set spending limits per session. AgentCore payments are available today in select markets in the US, EU, and Australia, with companies including Warner Bros. Discovery, Heurist AI, Cox Automotive, Thomson Reuters, and PGA TOUR exploring the capabilities.
