Anthropic raised $65B in new funding at a $900B pre-money valuation, surpassing OpenAI's last valuation of $730B to become the world's most valuable AI startup. The round was led by Greenoaks Capital, Sequoia Capital, Altimeter Capital, and Dragoneer Investment Group, with new strategic investors including Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix, companies that make storage, memory, and logic chips central to AI development. The valuation is nearly 2.5x the $380B figure Anthropic carried roughly three months ago, and the company has raised over $130B since launching in 2021 per PitchBook. Anthropic also unveiled Claude Opus 4.8, a new flagship model the company said is significantly better at coding and scored 10% higher on Vals AI's vibecoding benchmark. CFO Krishna Rao said the company's revenue run rate crossed $47B this month. SpaceX is expected to IPO as soon as next month, and OpenAI plans to file confidentially in the coming weeks.
