Mike Krieger, Anthropic's chief product officer and co-founder of Instagram, resigned from Figma's board on April 14, the same day The Information reported that Anthropic's upcoming Opus 4.7 model will include design tools that could compete directly with Figma's core offering. Krieger had joined Figma's board less than a year ago, and the company has been a close Anthropic partner, integrating Claude into its products as an AI assistant for UX designers. Figma's stock was up 5% following the disclosure, though the competitive threat from frontier AI labs moving into established software categories has contributed to a broader software market selloff, with iShares's primary software ETF down nearly 18% this year.
