Anthropic is increasingly competing with its own business customers as it becomes the dominant supplier of AI models to other companies, blindsiding partners like Figma, which dropped out of April's Claude Design launch after learning the tool would rival its own product, according to The Information. The clash follows Claude Code overtaking coding apps like Cursor and GitHub Copilot, plus new Claude legal and finance features aimed at startups such as Harvey and Rogo, while Anthropic's shift to usage-based pricing has driven up customer bills and led firms like Uber to cap employee use. Anthropic's revenue has surged about five times to nearly $50B in annualized sales in five months, passing OpenAI, and the moves echo past Microsoft and Google dominance as partners weigh cheaper or multi-model options.
