Amazon is negotiating to buy Decart for roughly $7 billion, up from the close to $4 billion the startup was valued at in May, according to The Wall Street Journal, which said a deal could land soon as long as the talks hold and no rival bidder shows up. Bloomberg reported in August that Anthropic was negotiating to buy Decart for about $6 billion. Decart makes software that lets developers move AI workloads from one kind of chip to another, and itโs also developing two world models, Lucy and Oasis. Amazon has built its own Trainium3 chip to compete with Nvidia, and AWS let Decart start using Trainium3 early, in 2025.
