Amazon hired Pedram Rezaei, who was Microsoft’s Copilot CTO until June, as a distinguished engineer for AWS’s Agentic AI and Emerging Technologies group. Rezaei spent over 20 years at Microsoft, where his last job was building foundation models for its Superintelligence team, and he earlier held senior roles on Bing and Dynamics 365. At AWS he’ll start on Quick, a workplace AI assistant, and Kiro, an AI coding tool. In a memo announcing the hire, AWS VP of agentic AI Swami Sivasubramanian said Kiro’s user count doubled from the first quarter to the second while monthly AI users of Quick quadrupled.
